The XR movement Lab uses VRchat with Vive steamVR including the Pro-Eye tracking and mouth trackers, and bodycapture with 11 point tracking
The XR Movement Lab is an Academic Theater Laboratory with the purpose of developing a next generation of tools in webXR and Unity VR for teaching many of the movement arts currently taught in higher education. The next phase of this lab will be to focus on VRChat to examine 4 different expressive areas featuring movement, and measure which aspects translate well to VR and which do not. We will provide reports on our findings re: the benefits and challenges of adapting movement arts to VR. These 4 Areas will be:
Combat
Dance
Mime
Mask
Our goal is to explore and experiment with the limits of avatar movement in live performance in VR, this will be the first laboratory of its kind to explore full body tracking in the metaverse. During this Lab we will find experts in these topics and have them advise as we conduct interviewing and learning from these experts. This process will be dedicated to crossing over various movement disciplines that cross over between VR expertise and theater scholarship.
And allowing the metaverse to be the Bridge between academics, practitioners, and enthusiasts.
